Our city is built on fascinating legacies–legacies that the Museum is determined to preserve and pass on to future generations. Sixty of these legacies are featured in our display including individuals, families and businesses that have made a significant contribution to Lynn’s history. These legacies will be incorporated into the Museum’s permanent collection. But the list of legacies has only begun to be compiled; it is by no means complete. These 60 are a great beginning.

What’s a Lynn Legacy? Someone who has built a business or a family in Lynn and is part of the fabric of the community. We celebrated these legacies at the Museum on two occasions in 2010 as part of our fundraising plan to match the $283,000 Challenge Grant from the Massachusetts Cultural Council. Lynn Legacies honor donors and celebrate their contributions to the Museum and to Lynn.

Funds raised by the Museum in 2010 were matched dollar for dollar by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, and enabled the Museum to develop interactive exhibitions to attract a new generation of students and families…making history come alive.
